SUSTAINABILITY

Proposals

  • Using responsibly-sourced and sustainable products, such as FSC certified timber and modular off-site construction where possible
  • Green/brown roofs utilised across the masterplan to enhance biodiversity
  • Use of solar panels (PV) to reduce building energy costs and carbon footprint
  • Generous planting of trees, hedges, shrubs and flowers throughout the Stamford Quarter, and choosing plant and tree species which are best for pollinators, mammals, birds and insects
  • Low energy use lighting, working with lighting consultants to provide a safe, well lit scheme that is also considerate of dark skies, bird and bat flight paths
  • Repurpose existing buildings to reduce embodied carbon
  • Integrating sustainable drainage and rainwater management into the design.
