Nell’s Pizza, inspired by the thin, crisp crusts and high-quality toppings of New York’s iconic pizza culture launched in lockdown as a low-waste, sustainable food offering for the owner's bars, NQ creative hub, Common and Chorlton family fave, The Beagle. The pizzas, available as 14in, giant 22in pies or individual slices caught the imagination of the city instantly, with a dedicated Nell’s joint opening shortly after at Kampus.

With famous fans ranging from Local lads Corella, comedian Dara Ó Briain and megastar Lewis Capaldi piling in regularly to share their bestselling Do You Roni Honey (Nduja, Pepperoni, Hot Honey) with friends; or families heading in post-school run for a a classic OG Marg - made simply with the best tomatoes and mozz available - and one of each of the dips, Nell’s have found their tribes in Manchester.
Adding new menu items earlier this year, the menu now also features calzoneta filled with cheesy marmite and baked until crisp on the outside and stringy in the middle; a fresh iceberg wedge salad with ricotta salata and last but not least, their ice cream sandwiches, recently immortalised by local artist Dave Bailey.
Art and music play a huge part in Nell’s identity, Nell’s Alty will feature a fresh set of work by multi-media artist Tara Colette, whose protest style banners highlight all the best bits of Nell’s - WELL BAKED, WELL SAUCED, WELL GOOD. At weekends, you’ll find local and emerging talent filling the place with tunes from underneath the disco ball.
Announcing the new location, founder Jonny said,
“We’ve been hoping to open a Nell’s in Altrincham for years, we love the town, it’s so vibrant, it almost feels like coming on holiday when you head over here. We can’t wait to be part of it.’
Foundation is a new workspace and leisure destination in the heart of Altrincham town centre. It is part of a wider transformational plan to revitalise the high street through a joint venture between Bruntwood and Trafford Council.
Commenting on the announcement, James Tootle, Head of Retail and Leisure at
Bruntwood, said:
“We’re delighted that Nell’s will be joining the Foundation community. It’s a brilliant,
independent brand that will cement the Stamford Quarter’s next chapter as a destination
for dining and leisure as well as shopping. It’s an important step forward in our vision for
revitalising the high street with the workspace now complete at Foundation and it’s
exciting to announce the arrival of the exciting operators that will complete the offering.”
A Trafford Council spokesperson added:
“Trafford is bucking the UK-wide trend of declining High Streets, as we continue to invest in our towns to create thriving hub destinations for local people. The addition of Manchester favourite Nell’s demonstrates the popularity of Stamford Quarter and Altrincham as a leisure and hospitality destination, and will be a fantastic addition to the offering at the Foundation building. The council is committed to the regeneration of all of our town centres in the borough, with further work planned for Altrincham,Stretford and Sale in the coming months.”
Nell’s Altrincham will open in September 2024
